The spa town of Karlovy Vary is famous for its mineral springs with their beneficial effects. There are 13 publicly accessible healing springs here. The most famous of these is the 72 °C hot Vřídlo spring, which gushes up to 12 meters high. You can take a tour to explore the underground Vřídlo. The springs are located in the colonnades and the surrounding area. You can visit the Market, Mill, Castle, and Garden Colonnades to admire their beautiful architecture or taste the waters they contain.
You can gaze upon this beauty from the heights of the Diana Lookout Tower or the Jelení skok viewpoint. A cable car takes you to the lookout tower, while the more adventurous can walk along the marked trail. The complex also features a butterfly house, offering a fascinating glimpse into the world of butterflies.
During the film festival, the most sought-after buildings are the Thermal Hotel and the Grandhotel Pupp, where film celebrities from around the world stay. You can visit these significant sites even off-season. Additionally, there is a publicly accessible pool on the terrace of the Thermal Hotel. From your visit to Karlovy Vary, you’ll take home not only beautiful memories, but also traditional spa wafers or a liqueur called Becherovka, to which an entire museum is dedicated.
