The town of Bečov nad Teplou is located just 25 km from Karlovy Vary. It is home to one of the best-preserved Czech castles—Bečov Castle—with its terraced gardens, beneath which lie the extensive cellars of a former brewery. The castle is situated in a valley surrounded by forested hills near the Teplá River. The castle’s greatest treasure is the reliquary of Saint Maurus, which houses so-called gems dating from the 1st to the 3rd century AD.
You can also visit the Museum of Motorcycles and Czech Toys in the historic building of the former district court. The museum’s collection includes 50 historic motorcycles, vintage bicycles, and motorcycle engines. Among the truly unique items are, for example, the first mass-produced DKW motorcycle or the Wagner 500 OHC, now the only one of its kind in the world. The first floor of the museum is dedicated to a permanent exhibition of wooden toys, family puppet theaters, and puppets.
Located within the Slavkov Forest is the small Bečov Botanical Garden, featuring interesting and rare plants.
