This wooden bridge in the village of Radošov near Kyselka is more significant than you might think. Its history dates back to Charles IV, the “Father of the Nation,” who granted permission for its construction. The bridge was intended to improve traffic flow along the Salt Route to Prague. This allowed the town of Ostrov to collect tolls on the bridge.
Back then, the bridge looked just as it does today; due to its wooden structure, it was frequently ravaged by fires, and damage from floods was not uncommon either. Because of its vulnerable position on the kingdom’s borders, it was also not spared from the ravages of enemy armies. The bridge suffered its last destruction in 1986 and did not see repairs until the new millennium.
